{☣} ||     Hah?  What—he was just trying to be nice—what is rude in that?

”———?” Because implying that he smells bad isn’t rude at all—-

{☣} ||     “…Hm.”  Want to keep them, Link? It will blend well with your clothes (and you’d smell nicer too).

“….” No. And jeeze, talk about rude.

Time Goes On

There were going to be consequences in the long run, if Link was to stay in this time forever. Forced to grow up never went without retort. Warriors did not come out of battle the same as they had been before going in, and while Link would soon regain his youth, he was not going to be that child again. Memories would be kept, and with it, he would still be very much the Hero. In Sheik’s eyes he always would be, despite his age. Where he went, there would always be those to help keep him up, and allow for him to grow. Such was the essence radiating from around him. Those that would become Sages in this time would, potentially, still have their mortal forms. That would give him more time with two friends in particular. For a moment he entertained the idea of having him pass a ‘hello’ to Impa, but without Ganondorf’s tyranny, Sheik’s existence would never come to be.

He wanted, very much so, to give this proper goodbye to his comrade. There was a chance with this life he might be able to follow the man in green to the time of his youth, and ensure his safety. As courageous as Link was, he was also reckless. He would lose his head if it was not attached to his shoulders. It was not his responsibility now to protect Zelda from Ganondorf, nor was it to guide Link down his destined path. They had reached that finish line. Though, he would be happy to be needed by the Hero again. Still, he would wait to see what the Gods decided of him, and the usefulness he carried.

Watching the realization spark behind those cyan irises, Sheik could almost give a laugh. Almost. Thin lips twitched upward, and a hand found its way to his hip. A brow would arch in his humor. “The Princess is as skilled as you perceive. With the fragment of the Triforce she carries her magic is… Almost unfathomable.” having Link so happy on his account was not surprising in the slightest, yet it was still very nice to see; a silent reassurance that Link had not lumped in his experiences with the Sheikah as just the Princess in guise. In his mind, they still were separate. He just now had the physical body to prove it further. “It is almost the same; just, her essence is not as close to me.” but he could feel her – just as he could Link, and Ganondorf if he was to return.

Link was sure that despite this being somewhat of a goodbye, that Sheik would continue to live on, in some form or another he simply had to, with Zelda’s magic so strong, there wasn’t a reason not to, right-? So would his thoughts on he matter stay, unable to think of a world wherein his guide would have to no longer exist, it just didn’t sit right with Link at all. Perhaps, he thought, he would be able to see him once he’s finally been given the chance to grow up, so they could do all sorts of things together that adults like to do.

Nothing would remain how it used to be, Link knew this very well, he no longer belonged in the place he had called home for his entire life, no family to call upon in times of need. How was Link to cope now that he was no longer needed nor useful. Little things like that would often nag at him, causing his brow to furrow with worry, a frown marring his countenance. But there would come the time when he would have to place the Master sword back in it’s rightful spot, though, he felt as if he would miss the blade, it had accompanied him for so long, it felt somewhat like an old friend. Odd, but it gave him just that little bit more courage.

A nod of a blond head given in response, he knew that Zelda was powerful with stuff like that, whereas Link was better suited to stab things and solve puzzles so it seemed, though, he could also do magic for a short time, he was no where near the Princess’ level. “.. Do you think I’ll be able to see her again when I go back-?” Tone would be filled with hope, though the slight doubt would be there, he did wish to see her again, but only if he was allowed such a thing. “Oh.. Okay then.. I thought it might feel like when you take off a hat and it feels funny, like it’s still there but it’s not.” He disliked that feeling, he took his hat off only a few times during his travels and every single time, it just felt odd.

Time Goes On

The man who had been known once before as ‘the boy without a fairy certainly did not live up to that name now. With the blazing blue at his side, he looked much like the portrait which had been painted in the young Princess’ mind years ago. He was surely something. For this moment, he was glad that the Princess had not yet sent him back in time. It would give the minstrel a chance for a proper goodbye, before the Goddess of Time once again aided him back to the time he had always belonged. Navi still with him was enough for the Sheikah to know he was getting a little more time in this verse. How much longer was not what he would question, and he would instead wait and see how long it would take the Hero to begin putting the pieces together of Sheik’s sudden appearance.

Later he would thank the small fairy for bringing him to this place. He had thought perhaps the Temple would be fitting, as that was where they had first met, but Sheik thought a more homely location would cause a greater easy for the Hero of Time. From what he could see from the initial response to his presence, he had not been far off. With a slight nod of his crown, the shadow being smiled behind his mask; Link’s focus on the good of Hyrule was a relief indeed. Still so much a child, he wondered if Link anticipated going home, or if he had come to accept this timeline as his home – no matter, the decision was already made. Link would regain his lost time. Sheik was sure they would see each other again after today.

“You do not need to fret Link… Thanks to you and the Princess, Hyrule is safe. There are no more dangerous monsters lurking in the shadows.” the former questions were pushed aside in favor for the latter, so that he would be able to rest easy before he would focus on what he was slowly going to begin poking at. “As for myself… I am fairing quite well. This is… The first day I have had for myself in seven years.”

A boy without a fairy, he once was, now the Hero of Time with not only a fairy companion, but many friends and allies that he would not wish to trade for anything. Despite being still only a child within, he had learnt so much through his adventure outside of the Kokiri forest, he was usually so much more attentive to his surroundings and the people he was presented with, be that a talent or simply something he was given through that of bad experiences; Link was always far too trusting in others, be he wary or not. But perhaps it truly was the homely location he had been brought to that put him so at ease, giving him less reason to worry over his excitement at seeing a friend once more before he was made to depart back through the gates of time, finally able to grow into the adult that his body implied he would be.

A light sound would fill the momentary silence that blanketed the area after Sheik had said his part, a light clinking as the ring within his ear would be disturbed, the pointed aid unknowingly flicking as a sure sign that Link was trying to think, figure something out. So excited to see the other was he, that he completely disregarded the fact that it was just him standing there, no princess to accompany him, to give him form, he was his own man now—————-

A slight gasp from parted lips would form, eyes glinted with new found curiosity, a few steps bringing him closer as he wished to give a slight inspection. “Hey hey, how did you get your own body-? Did Zelda do some really cool magic-? She’s really awesome, huh-? What does it feel like—— Wait, no, it probably feels good.” A ramble at most, he was simply so intrigued by the possibilty of such a thing. Honestly, it was enough to keep him smiling, he wondered, would be able to see Zelda again now that it was all over, to tell her that she did a really good job—- He hoped so.
